Classic Filipino films up for rewatching

CALLING all cinephiles! 

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), 50 Filipino movies will be screened in selected cinemas nationwide for just 50 pesos!

The aptly named Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta will feature fan favorites like Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Ang Panday (both 1980 and 2009 versions), and Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo.

Classic Filipino movies will also be shown like Insiang, Himala, Tanging Yaman, and Markova.

While some more recent movies also made the cut like Firefly, Gandarrapido Revenger Squad, and Die Beautiful.

And just in time for Halloween, horror classic Shake, Rattle, and Roll movies will also be screened.

This special screening will be from September 25 to October 15.

Dekada ‘70 free screening

Another classic Filipino movie, Dekada ‘70, will be screened on Thursday, September 19 for free.

The film adaptation of the novel with the same title written by 2020 Gawad CCP Para Sa Sining Awardee Lualhati Bautista and directed by Chito S. Roño will be shown at the GSIS Theater at 1 o’clock.

In a post by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Film, Broadcast and New Media, they announced that following the screening of Dekada ‘70, there will be a talkback session with some of the people behind the movie.

The project is initiated by the Sentrong Pangkultura ng Pilipinas, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), in partnership with ABS-CBN Sagip Pelikula.
