Chedeng to exit PAR Sunday night or Monday morning – PAGASA

Typhoon Chedeng will continue to weaken as it moves away from the Philippines, according to PAGASA on Sunday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said Chedeng carried maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h as of 4 a.m., down from 140 km/h at 10 p.m. Saturday, with gustiness of up to 160 km/h.

It was last spotted 990 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.

Moving north northeastward at 20 km/h, the typhoon continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), bringing occasional monsoon rains over the western portions of Luzon and Visayas in the next three days.

“Chedeng will continue moving away from Philippine landmass. It is forecast to accelerate northeastward and leave the PAR region tonight or tomorrow early morning,” PAGASA said.

”This tropical cyclone will continue to weaken throughout the forecast period [in an] increasingly unfavorable environment. It is forecast to be downgraded into a severe tropical storm within the day or tomorrow early morning.”
