Carla Abellana on Tom Rodriguez: ‘I still feel the pain’

KAPUSO actress Carla Abellana finally admits she is still in pain over her separation from now ex-husband, Tom Rodriguez, and that truthfully, the actor is still in her heart.

“Oo, definitely, I wouldn’t even hesitate to answer and say yes, definitely,” she said in a recent no-holds-barred interview on “Updated with Nelson Canlas,” the showbiz podcast of GMA Integrated News via “24 Oras.”

“But pain kasi doesn’t disappear overnight, gustuhin mo mang mawala ‘yung pain, it’s in a way something you cannot control, ako I recognize it enough na nandyan pa siya, ayoko naman sabihing wala kasi hindi naman totoo ‘yun pero definitely nandiyan ‘yan and matagal pa yan proseso,” she added.

According to the actress, she is at that point in her life right now where her heart’s welfare is her top priority.

In fact, the thought of them being “divorced” still hasn’t sunk in.

“No. 1  kasi divorce doesn’t exist in the Philippines dahil ang foreign nung divorce wala kasi sa atin hindi pina-practice dito, parang hindi pa siya fully nag-si-sink in. Siguro mas doon pa siya mag-si-sink in sa’kin ‘pag siguro dito na na-proseso at dito na naasikaso at na-recognize na siya ng Philippine court,” she said.

Tom has not reached out

Carla was also candid enough to admit that Tom has not reached out to her since their marriage fiasco.

“No, the last time [kelan ba shocks] so the last time na nakita ko siya was in February but since then no,” she said.

However, despite everything that happened, Carla couldn’t rule out yet whether or not she has completely lost her love for Tom.

“Honestly hindi ko masasagot na yes or no, kumbaga ganon. Like I said naman hindi siya nag-di-disappear or hindi mo nababawasan ng kusa.

But when asked if she would answer should Tom call her, she said, “Hindi, hindi muna. At this point parang hindi ko kakayanin, if ever he calls hindi ko kakayaning kausapin siya.”

In the end, the Kapuso star is thankful for all the support she got from family and friends that helped her survive her marital ordeal.

“I agree na ‘yung Carla today hindi naman same nu’ng Carla a few months back or ‘yung Carla last year of course magkaiba ‘yun. Magkaibang time, magkaibang scenario, situation, [you know] state of self, even the mind,” she said.

Tom and Carla have long been in a relationship before they got engaged in October 2020, which they only made public in March 2021. They finally tied the knot at the Madre de Dios Chapel, Tagaytay Midlands in Talisay, Batangas last Oct. 23, 2021.

However, just January of this year, break-up rumors started leaking online when Tom unfollowed Carla on Instagram. After months of speculation, the two eventually admitted their separation making theirs one of the shortest marriages in Philippine showbiz.
