BTS’ Jungkook to perform “Dreamers” at FIFA World Cup opening ceremony

ASIDE from football fans, members of the BTS Army are expected to tune in to the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar on November 20.

BTS’ Jungkook will perform the song “Dreamers” when he joins the opening ceremony of the World Cup.

Big Hit Music, which handles the South Korean septet, released details of Jungkook’s participation in the football tournament.

“At the opening ceremony of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, Jung Kook will be performing the official soundtrack ‘Dreamers,’” it said in a statement.

The opening ceremony will be from 5:40 p.m. to 6:10 p.m., Arabia Standard Time.

“We ask for your interest in BTS Jung Kook’s performance at the World Cup opening ceremony,” Big Hit said.

Most watched

The World Cup has been described as the most watched sporting event internationally, and in May, FIFA president Gianni Infantino estimated that some five billion people from around the world would tune in this year.

FIFA said some 3.572 billion tuned in to the last World Cup, held in Russia in 2018.

Some of the watchers of this year’s event are sure to be BTS fans.

BTS’ maknae

Jungkook, 25, is the youngest member of BTS, which has gained global acclaim for its infectious songs and energetic performances.

Recently, BTS snagged three Grammy nominations.

For the third year in a row, it was nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for “My Universe,” its collaboration song with British band Coldplay.

BTS is a nominee as well in the Album of the Year category as featured artists on Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” album.

The boyband is also up for Best Music Video for its song “Yet to Come.”

Despite being nominated in previous years, BTS has yet to win a Grammy.

But it has received a slew of honors from other award-giving bodies such as the Billboard Music Awards and the American Music Awards.
