TUESDAY will still be generally fair for most parts of the country, but there is a chance of rain here and there, especially in the afternoon. So remember to bring your umbrellas.
State weather forecasting bureau Pagasa said the easterlies, or the cool winds from poles moving towards the equator, are now affecting most parts of the country today, February 7.
The easterly winds will cause isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the eastern section of the archipelago.
Only Batanes, including the Babuyan Islands, will be spared by the easterlies. But still, there may be light rains in the northernmost part of the country, courtesy of another weather system – the northeast monsoon.
Based on Czech weather aggregator Windy, there is a high chance of moderate to heavy thunderstorms happening in some towns of the country:
These thunderstorms may last for three hours.
Windy uses the forecast model of European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), one of the leading global weather models. It has a higher accuracy rate of 95–96 percent for up to 12 hours, and 85–95 percent for three days.
Around 3:45 am, Pagasa issued an advisory for some parts of Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur. The warning states there will be moderate with occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Light to moderate rains probably lulled further to sleep residents of Davao de Oro, Surigao del Sur and Zamboanga del Sur around the same time.
Last night, Pagasa also issued a rainfall advisory for some parts of northern and central Mindanao.
Moderate with occasional heavy rains probably ruined the evening of some residents in Lanao Del Norte, Maguindanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Oriental, and Cotabato.
Light to moderate rains, on the other hand, might have relieved residents from the afternoon hot weather in Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Sur.
Meanwhile, real-time images from weather satellite Himawari-9, taken February 7 at 5:40 am, showed some areas in Mindanao still experienced heavy rains.
