Bea Alonzo to do a movie with John Lloyd Cruz for Star Cinema

by Izel Abanilla

THEY are back!

The country’s premier love team Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz is officially back to spread love and pain once again in an upcoming Star Cinema movie.

In a recent media conference, Alonzo confirmed that the comeback love flick will be directed by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Garcia-Molina was behind most of Bea-John Lloyd movies especially their iconic 2007 mega hit “One More Chance.”

Complementing Garcia-Molina’s directorial prowess will be the same team whom she worked with in “One More Chance.”

“It will be written by Carmi Raymundo and concept by Enrico Santos. So it’s going to be exciting,” Alonzo said.

John Lloyd to Bea: What took you so long?

In an interview on GMA’s flagship newscast “24 Oras,” Cruz said he is excited to work with Alonzo once again.

“Ang tagal niya na nga eh. Ang tagal na po akong naka-standby Miss Bea…Waiting lang po, any time po on your cue,” he said.

GMA contract stars, but can work with ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema

Cruz and Alonzo’s reunion movie will be their first project with Star Cinema after their departure from their former home network, ABS-CBN. f

Alonzo officially signed with rival network GMA last July 1, 2021 after months of speculation about her next big career move.

Cruz on the other hand officially inked partnership with the Kapuso network last November 9, 2021 after a four-year showbiz hiatus.

Together, the two have headlined some of the biggest and most ambitious projects of the Kapamilya network.

‘Reel’ love team for 20 years

An accidental love team, Cruz and Alonzo were first paired together for the 2002 hit series “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.”

Cruz was then supposed to be paired with actress Dimples Romana. However, when she got pregnant, the network decided to pursue another love team partner for the actor.

When Alonzo fitted the requirements, it became the birth of their iconic team up.

True enough, “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” was a massive success.

They went on to do “It Might Be You,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” “Maging Sino Ka Man” and “I Love Betty La Fea.”

Their movies “All About Love,” “My First Romance,” “Now That I Have You,” “One More Chance” “The Mistress” and “A Second Chance” were all commercially successful as well.
