Barges and towboats slam into the Manalo Bridge in Marikina

THE stability of the Manalo bridge will be checked after a total of 13 barges and two tugboats rammed into i at the Marikina River due to the strong current from the floods.

The incessant rains were due to the habagat and super typhoon Carina.

Initial investigations showed that the structural integrity will be checked.

Some 20 people were rescued and were given treatment.

The Marikina LGU closed the Manalo Bridge to give way for checking and assessment.

The Quezon City LGU has with the DPWH and Coast Guard.

As of press time the barge and two tugboats have yet to be removed.
