by Kiko Cueto

ON-SITE classes remained suspended in several areas in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the continued extreme heat, still due to the El Nino phenomenon.

The schools had been advised to shift to  asynchronous classes or alternative learning modalities.

In Metro Manila the Local Government Units that declared a suspension are: Malabon City (public schools); Muntinlupa City (blended learning modality for kinder to Grade 12, public (until May 17)); Pasay City (all levels, public and private (May 15-16)) and Valenzuela City (kinder to senior high school, public and private)

In nearby provinces, Bulacan remained suspended for face-to face classes in all levels, public which started May 13.

The cities and municipalities include: Guinobatan, Albay (afternoon classes, preschool to secondary); Iloilo City (all levels, public and private (May 15-16)); Tanza, Cavite (afternoon classes for kinder to senior high school, public (until May 17)); Tuguegarao, Cagayan (public schools (May 15-17)); and Umingan, Pangasinan (afternoon classes for pre-school to senior high school, public (until May 31)).
