Vanessa Hudgens named PH’s tourism global ambassador

by Izel Abanilla

The Philippine government has named Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens as tourism ambassador.

The title was conferred on Hudgends, 34, by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during a courtesy call in Malacanang last Thursday.

Present in the ceremony were Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco and Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications Paul Soriano. The latter will be directing Hudgens’s travel documentary in the Philippines.

In a statement released by the PCO, the Palace said Hudgens’s award is in line with the Marcos administration’s efforts to  “raise the country’s global status” and promote the Philippines as a prime travel destination.

The OPACC and the DOT are also planning to produce a documentary promoting the country’s tourism industry by highlighting Hudgens’ homecoming to explore her Filipino roots.
