Team Karylle, Amy, MC, Lassy’s ‘Magpasikat 2023’ performance reminds us of family’s love

by Joanna Deala

A PERSON will never stop loving and caring about their loved one no matter how far they are from one another.

This is the message that “It’s Showtime” hosts Karylle, Amy Perez, MC and Lassy relayed to the madlang people through their family-oriented performance today, the second day of the noontime variety show’s “Magpasikat 2023.”

The performance featured a short skit about four siblings who must leave their younger brother under the care of an acquaintance, because of work.

Karylle portrayed the role of a health worker, Amy as a nanny, MC as a security guard, Lassy as a seaman, and “Isip Bata” star Argus as their younger sibling.

While Argus pondered why he was always left alone, an animated creature named Lulu appeared and took him on an imaginative journey to explain why his siblings had to leave him.

The young star’s imagination showed Argus how he is loved and cared for by his family, as his siblings still think of him even from afar.

Team Karylle, Amy, MC and Lassy’s performance turned out to be a star-studded one, as it surprised viewers with special stages from P-pop groups BGYO and Bini, Taylor Sheesh, and the original “Encantadia” Sang’gres — Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon and Diana Zubiri.

The production ended with a family reunion, with the four older siblings reminding their youngest that he was always in their hearts.

The “It’s Showtime” hosts and their special guests gathered onstage to perform a song about one’s love for their family.

But Team Karylle, Amy, MC and Lassy had another surprise for the madlang people after their performance.

Hearts fluttered when Karylle revealed that the voice behind Lulu was Kapuso actor David Licauco. The 29-year-old actor is the onscreen partner of actress Barbie Forteza, who is one of the judges for “Magpasikat 2023.”

Netizens delighted

Many netizens felt the warmth of the message that Team Karylle, Amy, MC and Lassy wanted to relay through their performance.

Filipino fans were also pleasantly surprised by the appearances of their idols BGYO and Bini on “It’s Showtime” stage.

Some netizens, on the other hand, were delighted by the reunion of the original Sang’gres.

Iza, Sunshine, Karylle and Diana starred in the 2005 fantasy drama series “Encantadia,” where they portrayed the roles of Amihan, Pirena, Alena and Danaya, respectively. The four sisters are the keepers of four elemental gems – air, fire, water and earth.

Many also enjoyed Taylor Sheesh’s lip-sync performance of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” Taylor Sheesh is a drag performer whose real name is Mac Coronel.

Meanwhile, a fan of Barbie and David, also known as BarDa, said they did not expect David’s appearance in the noontime variety show.

The team of Anne Curtis, Ryan Bang and Ogie Alcasid will be the next to perform for “Magpasikat 2023” tomorrow, November 8.
