Team Anne, Ryan, Ogie hope for healing in ‘Magpasikat 2023’ performance

by Joanna Deala

EVERYONE faces battles in life, but “It’s Showtime” hosts Anne Curtis, Ryan Bang and Ogie Alcasid believe that things will fall into place and these people will soon find healing.

The trio emphasized that the “world is healing” in their “Magpasikat 2023” performance today in the noontime variety show, as they cited a variety of issues in the country.

Among these were the COVID-19 pandemic that took a toll on people’s lives; and the 12-day airing suspension that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) previously imposed on “It’s Showtime.”

The performance featured solo stages from the three hosts, with Ryan performing an interpretative dance of Ben King’s “Stand by Me.”

He was followed by Ogie, who conquered his fear of heights as he offered audiences a new rendition of Eraserheards’ “Huwag Kang Matakot.” He was joined by OPM singers Jed Madela, Nyoy Volante and Dingdong Avanzado onstage.

Anne partnered with her sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith for their spiral pole-dancing performance, while “Isip Bata’s” Imogen sang to Coldplay’s “Fix You.”

The performance concluded with the hosts and guests joining forces onstage to perform an original song that encourages everyone to pray for the world’s healing.

Seeking healing

Many netizens were touched by the message of Team Anne, Ryan and Ogie’s performance and said that they, too, are seeking healing.

Some X users found the performance’s theme “very timely,” with the unfolding of events in and outside the country, such as the Israel-Hamas war.

Other social media users are praying for the healing of everyone, particularly those who are facing silent battles.

The next “Magpasikat 2023” performance will be delivered by the team of Vice Ganda, Jackie Gonzaga and Cianne Dominguez tomorrow, November 9.
