Speak Up

Viral tweet on X sparks discussion: “Even animals aren’t safe from men”

Warning: This article contains mentions of bestiality, rape, and sexual harassment.

LAST July 16th, an X user’s post showing a video of a monkey with swollen, enlarged breasts went viral. At present, it has over 38.9 million views.

The comments under the video explain that the animal’s breasts likely look this way because she is pregnant and/or breastfeeding. This fact has not, however, stopped a number of men from leaving overtly sexual comments under the user’s post.

“Hey Siri, how much jail time [do] you get for bestiality?” One wrote.

Another asked: “You are surprised she got them jugs better than most humans?”

“Hear me out,” another said.

“Oh my god, [the] monkey’s bust is very beautiful,” wrote another.

Others also pointed out the fact that the tweet, at present, now has over 10, 000 bookmarks. I wonder why.

With regard to these comments, one woman replied underneath the tweet: “That’s why women choose the bear.”

Going back to the man or bear debate

One user on X retweeted this post, saying: “Let’s take a minute to remember that even animals are not safe in the hands of men.”

This is reminiscent of the “man vs. bear” debate that started a while back on social media; when women were asked whether they would rather be stuck in the forest with a man or a bear, many chose the latter,  because, for them, the worst a bear can do is kill them.

Others have also likened this situation to the horrifying case of Pony the orangutan, as reported by the Sun Online. Pony lived in a brothel for over six years, her face painted with makeup and her entire body shaved each day.

Why? Because men could pay to either have sex with the prostitutes in the brothel… or with Pony.

For six years, Pony lived chained to a bed, forced to have sex every day with men who were – are – sick in the head. She was covered in abscesses when they found her.

Even after she was rescued and placed in the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, she is still traumatized; she was frightened any time men would approach her enclosure at first, and it is highly unlikely that she will ever be able to go back into the wild.

Pony’s case is one in thousands; there are many sick folks out there who find themselves sexually attracted to animals, with many indulging their desires, with these animals having no choice but to submit.

You’d be surprised by the number of videos you’d be able to find on the internet of men laughing as they have sex with pigs, dogs, cows – anything with a pulse at this point.

In 2022, The Tribune reported yet another case that proves why women would choose the bear: a Bengal monitor was gang-raped by four men, as proven by a video found on one of the perpetrator’s phones.

After raping the lizard, they then killed it and ate its remains. Local officials say that they appear to have done it for fun.

As of 2022, it was reported by Statista that the cases of violence against women and children were at 7. 42 thousand.

It is easy to say “Women do it too,” or “Why are you pinning this on men,”  when you do not have to wake up in fear every day of getting catcalled, harassed, or raped.

It is easy to say this when you do not have to live your life wishing you hadn’t been born a woman – when you wake up every day wondering if it is going to be your last.

Sure, believe that these are mere exaggerations – that women are just being overdramatic. But the numbers do not lie. If not even animals are safe, if not even children are safe, how the hell can you say that women are?

How useful was this post?
