XIAOMI’S latest models, the Redmi Note 12 series, will soon be available outside China, and smartphone enthusiasts are looking forward to seeing what these phones are capable of.
The Redmi Note 12 series is composed of five smartphone models — Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, Redmi Note 12 Discovery, and Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.
According to Xiaomi, India will be the next stop for the Redmi Note 12 series on January 5. While other global releases for the series remain unknown, mobile phone reviewers say it won’t be long before the Chinese brand offers the Redmi Note 12 series in other international flagship stores.
50 MP camera
With its triple camera set-up, Xiaomi claims that the new Redmi Note 12 series delivers “dynamic and appealing images through a perfect combination of software and hardware tools.”
The models come with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera sensor and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature for superior quality images.
Premium audio-visual experience
The Redmi Note 12 series is equipped with an AMOLED display to support a 120Hz refresh rate for better screen and visual performance. The smartphones also come with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision which are expected to provide a better audio-visual experience.
They are also seen to be ideal for binge-watching series and other watching activities, with their 6.67-inch centered punch-hole OLED display with a Full HD+ screen resolution, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, a peak brightness level of 900 nits, HDR10+, and HDR10.
Other specifications
The smartphones run on an Android 12-based MIUI 13, while the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
They also have features like fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33 W fast charging.
While the prices of the models have yet to be announced, the approximate selling prices for the smartphones will range from CNY 1,199 (~US$ 167) to CNY 1,699 (~US$ 237).
The Redmi Note 12 series is available in three colors — black, blue, and green — and three memory options 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB
