Rainy Rizal Day in Northern, Central Luzon

RIZAL Day will be cloudy with rains in Northern and Central Luzon because of the shear line and the northeast monsoon. Those in the area who will go out today should prepare their umbrellas and rain coats.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, according to the state weather bureau.  

No low pressure area is on the horizon.

Floods, landslides possible

Cagayan, Isabela, and the northern portion of Aurora are affected by the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm winds that forms rain clouds. 

There will be cloudy skies with scattered rains showers or thunderstorms in these areas. 

On the other hand, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in Apayao, Kalinga, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Aurora. 

People in these areas are advised that flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Autonomous Region, but these are not expected to have any significant impact. 

Visayas and MIndanao 

The Visayas and Mindanao provinces will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms may cause moderate to heavy rains that could bring floods and landslides. 

New Year’s Eve weather in key cities 

Metro Manila, Baguio City, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms on December 31. 

Legazpi City may have a high chance of rain on Saturday due to the shear line, and this may cause floods and landslides. 

Temperature check

Baguio remains chilly today with temperatures ranging from 15 to 23 degrees celsius, while in Tagaytay it will be from 20 to 27 degrees celsius. 

Metro Manila’s temperature today will range from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, while in Laoag it will be 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, and in Tuguegarao 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.

In Legazpi, the temperature will be from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, in Puerto Princesa 24 to 30 degrees Celsius, and in Kalayaan Islands  25 to 29 degrees Celsius. 

In Cebu, the temperature will range from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius, in Tacloban 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, and in Iloilo 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Davao will range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, in Cagayan de Oro 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, and in Zamboanga 23 to 32 degrees Celsius. 

Gale warning 

There will be strong to gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon in Northern and Central Luzon, as well as portions of Southern Luzon. 

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough, and waves may reach as high as 4.5 meters. 

These are the affected areas: 

  • Batanes
  • Cagayan
  • Babuyan Islands
  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union
  • Pangasinan
  • Northern coast of Quezon including the northern and eastern coasts of Polilio Islands
  • Fishing boats and small sea craft in these areas are advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger vessels are alerted against big waves. 

Coastal waters 

Coastal waters in Luzon will be moderate to rough, and the wind speed will be moderate to strong.

In Visayas and Mindanao, coastal waters will be slight to moderate, while the wind speed will be light to moderate. 

Visayas forecast

Kasarangan ngadto na sa kusog na hangin nga gikan sa Silangan ngadto sa Amihanang-silangan ang mupasulabi sa Palawan lakip na ang Kalayaan Islands, ug sa Occidental Mindoro diin ang kadagatan adunay kasarangan ngadto na sa baluron ang kahimtang. Hinay ngadto sa Kasarangan na hangin nga gikan sa Silangan ngadto sa Amihanang-silangan ang mupasulabi sa buong Visayas diin ang kadagatan adunay malinawon ngadto sa kasarangan nga kahimtang sa kadagatan.

Mindanao forecast

Ang tibuok dapit sa Mindanao makasinati sa panalagsang pag dag-um ngadto na sa mapanganuron nga kalangitan inubanan sa patak-patak nga pag ulan, kilat ug panalugdog tungod sa Localized Thunderstorms. Hinay ngadto na sa kasarangan nga hangin ang magagikan sa silangan ngadto na sa amihanang silangang direksyon ug ang kadagatan hapsay ngadto na sa kasarangan ang pagbalud.
