Ogie Diaz: Prove Alden, Maine are lovers

by Izel Abanilla

MANILA, Philippines – After receiving backlash over his interview with Maine Mendoza, veteran talent manager Ogie Diaz boldly issued a challenge to the entire “AlDub” nation to present evidence proving that Mendoza and screen partner Alden Richards were a couple in love in real life.

Through the years, some members of the ever loyal fandom of Richards and Mendoza seemed to have been deluded into believing that the two, despite repeated denials, were in a relationship.

Hence, Mendoza took the opportunity to speak up and clarify everything in an interview with Diaz on his vlog last November 3,  which has gained over 2 million views as of writing. The actress was candid about her struggles concerning their team-up’s fans who are in a “delusion” that she and Richards are in fact married with a child.

“‘Yung iba hanggang ngayon kapit na kapit sila na mag-asawa kami ni Alden, (na) may anak na kami,” Maine said.

“Marami na po akong mga tao na dinirect message sa Twitter to tell them na wala pong katotohanan as in ako na po personally nag-re-reach out sa kanila.”

However,  their fans still continue to believe their fantasies. “Not through other people, ako na ‘yung nag-me-message pero Mama Ogs ang reply pa rin nila sa’kin, ‘hindi si Maine ‘yan. Admin ‘yan ng account ni Maine.’”

Because of this interview, Diaz became the next target of the AlDub fans’ rage. He then took to Twitter to expose the harassment he’s been getting from some members of the fandom.

In a tweet, he asked: “Ba’t ako bina-bash ng AlDub fans? Ininterbyu ko lang naman si Maine Mendoza?”

Very much enraged over the interview, a supposed member of the AlDub who goes by the handle @letmalaborbor nation tagged the episode as the “Worst interview” of the actress.

Staying true to their story, she even called out the TV host for being a “liar and a heartless mother who denied her children’s existence.” She even tried to inject guilt into the actress by saying “I hope you can sleep well at night, may [G]od enlighten your mind and heart.”

To further prove that the two were in fact an item, a fan showed a clip of a scene from the hit “Eat Bulaga” segment “Kalyeserye” where the two were seen acting out somewhat like an engagement scene.

A fan tagged Ogie supposedly to discredit him and his interview.

In turn, the talent manager challenged the persistent members of AlDub nation to come up with real-life proof for their claims, “Wala na po kayong ibang resibo? Yung hindi po pang-Eat Bulaga?”

Some fans even accused him of having been paid to do the interview. His reply:  “Nay, baka me mga pictures ka pong iba, yung di kuha sa tv. Like during [M]aine’s pregnancy, eh asan siya for 9 months?

A few days ago, a video of a group of AlDub fans gathering altogether supposedly celebrating the iconic “tamang panahon” along with the belief that the two have already built a family went viral online.
