NBA players show off flair with Halloween costumes

HALLOWEEN is a time when individuals of all ages express their creativity and imagination through costumes. This yearly event also gives NBA players a unique opportunity to express themselves outside of the basketball court. 

They are equally talented at dressing up as they are at playing basketball. This year, another set of NBA players showcased their individuality through their Halloween costumes. 

Aside from the NBA Playoffs and Christmas Day games, these ballers’ eerie and creative Halloween costumes are also something to look forward to, showcasing their talent both on and off the court.

Wemby’s for the ages

Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs’ Rookie of the Year last season, was spotted dressed as a character from Spirited Away. Hayao Miyazaki wrote and directed this Japanese animated fantasy film in 2001. 

The youthful 7-foot-3 stud was portraying No Face, or Kaonashi, from the 2001 popular Studio Ghibli film. He imitated the ghost’s body, draping a long black cloak around himself.

Wembanyama recently made a Slenderman costume that is perfectly proportionate to his height. Despite having difficulty walking with a cloth wrapped around him this year, fans think Wemby did an excellent job. 

One X (Formerly Twitter) user remarked that the lanky center is so far flawless from the two occasions he was observed duplicating something for a Halloween costume. “Wow, Wemby is 2/2 on Halloween costumes.”

“Wemby entering the game tonight on Halloween vs the Utah Jazz as No-Face from Spirited Away. Wemby has been killing it the last two years with his Halloween costumes,” another netizen said.

Never disappoints

The Minnesota Timberwolves were spot on with their Halloween outfits. Anthony Edwards wore Robert “Bob” Parr, often known as Mr. Incredible, from the Disney-Pixar film Mr. Incredible. 

Not only that, but Mike Conley dressed up as Ryu from Street Fighter, Naz Reid as Chucky, and who could forget the Minnesota Timberwolves President’s costume, which was dressed up like Anthony Edwards. 

Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz was seen dressed as Woody from the animated Disney-Pixar film Toy Story. Meanwhile, John Collins wore a Kakashi Hatake outfit, one of the main characters in the Naruto anime.

Pascal Siakam, the Indiana Pacers’ forward, was also showing off his André 3000 attire from Outkast, an American hip hop combo. Russell Westbrook, a Denver Nuggets guard, also dressed as the Joker. 

Meanwhile, Memphis Grizzlies’ Jay Huff went viral after imitating his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kyle Kuzma’s pink sweater tunnel trendsetting outfit. 

On the court, athletes are frequently viewed through the lenses of competition, talent, and athleticism. However, Halloween allows them to show off different aspects of their personalities.
