Davis and Dončić Share Emotional Farewell Messages

FOLLOWING a stunning weekend for the NBA and its fans, Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis have formally issued their heartbreaking farewell message, posted on their respective Instagram accounts.

The NBA landscape will never be the same following this spectacular secretive deal between the Dallas Mavericks’ front offices and the fan-favorite Los Angeles Lakers.

Aside from the basketball talks, Dončić and Davis left messages for their old teams, after leaving a legacy despite the bitter end of their stint with their old cities.a

Luka is a Laker

Before meeting Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka in Los Angeles, 25-year-old Dončić expressed appreciation for the support that he had as a young Slovenian youngster from everyone in Dallas.

“Seven years ago, I came here as a teenager to pursue my dream of playing basketball at the highest level,” said Dončić on Instagram. “I thought I’d spend my career here and I wanted so badly to bring you a championship.”

“The love and support you all have given me is more than I could have ever dreamed of. For a young kid from Slovenia coming to the U.S. for the first time, you made North Texas feel like home.”

“In good times and bad, from injuries to the NBA Finals, your support never changed. Thank you not only for sharing my joy in our best moments, but also for lifting me up when I needed it most,” he went on to say.

Regardless of how the trade went down, the Slovenian star also took the opportunity to thank the entire organization and express how Dallas had become a home away from home for him for nearly 6 years.

AD is a Maverick

Meanwhile, Davis is more than eager to begin his time with Dallas. Nonetheless, he would not depart without thanking his fans and everyone who had made Los Angeles his home over the past six years.

“6 years ago, I came here with the vision to win a Championship, and I will never forget the moment we did,” said Davis in an Instagram post. “The business of basketball is a business just like all other businesses.”

“I am grateful to the city where my first ring came from, grew my family and friendships and I will always have a home here. My family and I thank everyone who made this place home and we are still thinking of those that lost their homes in the fires.”

“To my teammates: our friendships go beyond a locker room and a jersey. LA will always have a special place in my heart. Every great story has an exciting next chapter. Dallas, here we come,” he ended the post.

Nonetheless, while these deals may not have an immediate impact on both teams this season, they will undoubtedly become formidable forces in the near future. Time will tell who won this historic trade.
