Show cause order issued vs scolding teacher

by Carl Santos

THE Department of Education confirmed on Monday that one of its teachers appeared in a viral video reprimanding students for a still unknown reason.

DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas said the woman, who is a public high school teacher in Metro Manila, was ordered to explain the incident within 72 hours.

The teacher appeared to have expressed her frustration with her students’ actions in the TikTok livestreamed video.

“Hindi ako nag-board exam para lang hindi irespeto ng mga katulad niyong wala pa namang nararating sa buhay!” she said.

“Hindi na nga kayo matalino. Masama pa ugali niyo. Wala kayong mararating. Wala kayong lugar sa mundo!”

Her social media rant received a lot of feedback, most of it negative.

Bringas said the concerned students will receive psychosocial intervention.

Under DepEd’s child protection policy, ”any act by deeds or words that debases, degrades, or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being” is considered child abuse.
