SOME 250,000 Meralco customers experienced power outages in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, at Cavite after the Luzon grid was placed under “red alert” Thursday evening.
Some residential areas experienced power outages from 30 minutes to close to two hours.
Along Brgy. Batasan in Quezon City brownouts occurred at around 8pm.
While in Barangay 76, Zone 7 in Tondo, Manila, residents stepped out of their houses hoping for cooler air as they lost power from 10:30 p.m. up to midnight, Friday.
According to Meralco, they need to implement a rotational power interruption or “manual load dropping” due to the “red alert” imposed by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
“We ask for the understanding of our affected customers. Rest assured that we are working to manage the situation and will provide updates as needed,” Joe Zaldarriaga, Meralco spokesperson said.
Today, May 24, the NGCP placed the Visayas Grid under a yellow alert.
