SEVERAL areas across the country have decided to shift to modular or online classes as temperatures remain hot.
In Metro Manila, among the areas that opted to suspend face-to-face classes on April 23, Tuesday:
Pasay City: Face-to-face classes at all levels – both public and private- are suspended on April 23-24. Classes may shift to any alternative learning modality.
Quezon City: Classes in all public schools remain under asynchronous classes on April 23.
Both said that this is due to the high temperature that may reach to 42°C with the or under “DANGER.”
In other areas:
Pampanga: No Face to Face Classes in All Levels, Public and Private Schools on April 23, 2024. San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag said the suspension is part of the continuing effects of the El Niño phenomenon, the hot dry season, and PAGASA’s heat index forecast; Face to face classes are also suspended in Angeles City.
Cagayan: The municipalities of Alcala and Gatttaran in Cagayan suspend face to face classes from pre-school to high school on April 23. Asynchronous Classes or Distance Learning will be held instead.
Nueva Ecija: The Saint John Nepomucene Parochial School of Cabiao, Nueva Ecija had announced that there would be no classes and no school operations on April 23 due to NEECO advisory of emergency power interruption.
Pangasinan: Dagupan City on the other hand said that there will be no face to face classes in public schools from pre-school to senior high school, as the heat index forecast will be at 44°C.
