New LRT-1 fares to take effect on April 2

HEADS up, commuters! New LRT-1 fares will start to take effect tomorrow, April 2.

Increased fare needed for expansions and operations

While many Filipinos don’t particularly approve of the new fare increase, Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Vince Dizon defended the fare hike’s approval, stating how it is necessary to improve operation and extend the train to Bacoor, Cavite.

In his radio interview on Tuesday, Dizon pushing to extend LRT-1 to Cavite.

While they are acknowledging the financial struggles of Filipinos, Dizon said that failure to implement the fare hike could cause further delays in the train station’s extension.

“Alam ko medyo mahirap po ngayon ang kalagayan ng mga kababayan natin. Pero para ma-extend natin ang LRT-1 at tuloy-tuloy na maganda ang serbisyo nito, ay kailangan lunukin na ito.” he said.
