IN celebration of the Department of Transportation’s 125th anniversary the agency said that passengers may avail of free rides in Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT2).
According to the DOTr, the free rides are scheduled at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. only.
Meanwhile, the DOTr, said that the “12-month free subway rides card” being offered on social media is “fake” or a scam.
The DOTr also warned against fake offers of free rides from unofficial social media accounts.
“DOTr and [AF Payments Inc.] have not authorized any sales of any ’12 Month Free Subway Rides Card’,” the DOTr said.
“The public is advised to refer only to officially recognized communication channels, including verified social media accounts and official websites,” it added.
Likewise the DOTr said that the “Manila Metro” Facebook page is not an official account of the DOTr or any of its attached agencies and does not represent the owner of Beep cards AF Payments Inc.
“DOTr advises the public to exercise caution when engaging with suspicious social media accounts misrepresenting as official government agencies,” it said.
“DOTr and its agencies reserve the right to take appropriate legal action against individuals or entities engaged in fraudulent activities, including the unauthorized use of its name or likeness for deceptive purposes,” it added.
