THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended the expanded number coding scheme on Friday, February 9, the eve of the Chinese New Year.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier declared February 9 a special non-working day to allow Filipinos to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which falls on Saturday, February 10.
“Suspendido ang pagpapatupad ng expanded number coding scheme sa Biyernes, Pebrero 9, bilang pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year,” the MMDA said.
“Saan man ang destinasyon, laging tandaan: planuhin ang biyahe, sumunod sa batas trapiko, at mag-ingat sa pagmamaneho.”
