A NEW secretary of the education department will be known this week, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured on Thursday.
This is after Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from the post of Department of Education (DepEd) secretary.
According to Marcos, the education department should not be left without a leader.
It will be recalled that Duterte resigned as DepEd Secretary last week.
She also resigned as vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
According to Duterte, she has prepared a 30-day transition plan for all the nine strands in the Central Office, as well as for the different Boards and Councils chaired by DepEd and SEAMEO.
According to her resignation, Duterte cited that her resignation was not due to any weakness, but of a serious concern for teachers and students.
A 30-day notice was given “to ensure the proper and orderly transition for the benefit of the next Secretary.”
Despite her resignation from the Cabinet, Duterte, the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, said she remains as a “friendly” ally of Marcos.
