March 11, 2024 not a holiday for Eid’l Fitr – Palace

MALACAÑANG disputed a document making the rounds on social media that claimed that it had declared Monday, March 11, a national holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.

”The circulating document labeled ‘Proclamation No. 729,’ which purportedly declares Monday, March 11, 2024, as a nationwide regular holiday in celebration of Eid’l Fitr, is spurious,” the Official Gazette said in a statement.

”It is a tampered version of Proclamation No. 729, s. 2019, issued by then-Executive Secretary Medialdea during the previous administration.”

Eid’l Fitr marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin this week.
