MALACANANG announced on Thursday that the rides for the metropolitan mass transit systems will be free for the entire day of Friday, December 20, 2024
According to a statement from the Palace, this serves as an early Christmas gift by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the riding public who patronizes the MRT-3, LRT Lines 1 and 2.
The free train ride is expected to benefit around 1.1 million passengers.
In numbers the expected passengers are 450,000 in MRT-3, 460,000 in LRT-1, and 200,000 in LRT-2.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, the usual heavy load of passengers occur during the last Friday before Christmas.
