Special non-working holiday on Tuesday, December 24

GO full blast for your Christmas celebration and preparations as the labor department reminded the public that Christmas eve, December 24,  Tuesday is a special non-working holiday as based on a memorandum by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

According to Proclamation No. 368 issued last year, they opted to include December 24 as a special non-working day to give way for citizens to go home or celebrate Christmas.

Special non-working days are also deemed as holidays but they differ from regular holidays.

These are the holidays that does not have fixed dates, and need proclamations in order to be considered as holidays.

According to the Labor Department, workers who report for duty on regular holidays, mandates employers to pay them 200 percent of their salary for that day.

On the other hand, special non-working holidays will entail employees getting an additional 30 percent.

Under special non-working holidays, it entails a ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy.

“lf the employee does not work, the “no work, no pay” principle.
