PNP: No special treatment for Guo; cellphones, aircon not available

THE Philippine National Police vowed that there will be no special treatment for former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo which means she will have no access to cellphones, airpods.

This is following the dismissed local chief executive’s arrest in Indonesia and deportation back to the Philippines early morning Friday.

Guo is linked to the illegal offshore gaming operation in her town.

She was transferred to Camp Crame at 3:06 a.m. but not before being subjected to a medical examination and booking proceedings.

PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said Guo will stay in an ordinary detention room with one bed, comfort room, and an electric fan.

“She will be treated as an ordinary detainee. [No] special treatment. Iniisa-isa ‘yung gamit niya. No cellphone, no AirPods. Bawal ‘yun sa facility,”Fajardo told reporters.

“Kung ano po ‘yong proseso na ginawa natin sa ordinaryong citizen, if they are just referring po sa number ng police personnel na atin pong dineploy, well narinig po natin galing sa bibig po ni dating mayor na may death threat po siya.”

Guo was arrested in Indonesia in Tangerang City last Tuesday, weeks after she left the Philippines without going through immigration checks.

She went back via chartered flight to Manila early Friday and then was brought to the PNP’s custodial facility in Camp Crame at 3:06 a.m.

Guo will not be given use of her phone and any gadget inside the custodial facility.

It will be turned over to her relatives.

“Tinanong po siya no’ng doctors natin, kung meron ba siyang nararamdaman at kung okay ba ang pakiramdam niya. Ang kanyang [blood pressure] po at oxygen level ay nasa normal na leve po”, Fajardo said.

Before her arrival, Guo was read her arrest warrant and Miranda rights. She was then handcuffed and brought to a holding area for processing and she underwent physical and medical examination.

Her mugshot was also taken, the PNP spokesperson said.

Guo is meanwhile expected to post bail for the graft and corruption charges before a Capas, Tarlac court.

She is also facing human trafficking, tax evasion, and money laundering cases, all related to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) in Tarlac.
