Palace declares May 12 elections as holiday

COINCIDING with the national and local midterm elections on May 12, 2025, Malacañang has declared Monday as a special, non-working holiday.

According to the announcement signed by Executive secretary Lucas Bersamin, the holiday is necessary “to enable people to exercise their right to vote.” 

Proclamation No. 878 declared that the May 12 nationwide poll will decide hundreds of seats in the House of Representatives and Senate as well as thousands of hotly contested local positions.
