NOT one, not two, but three cyclones will fill up the Philippines this week, adding agony to the millions already affected by previous storms that drenched majority of Luzon and the Visayas.
According to the state weather bureau, Typhoon ‘Nika’ is the first as it struck the northern Philippines on Monday, with thousands of villages forced to evacuate to flooding and threats of landslides.
But as Nika is expected to exit Monday night or Tuesday early morning, a tropical depression will be coming in and would be named ‘Ofel.’

The storm will intensify as it crosses the Philippine Sea. It is estimated to reach the typhoon strength before making landfall over northern or central Luzon late Thursday or early Friday.
A third cyclone to be named ‘Pepito’ was spotted east of Guam on Monday. It is expected to enter the PAR before the weekend.

Pepito may head towards the battered Bicol or Eastern Visayas.
Experts explained that the occurrence of storms and typhoons at very short intervals was not new and had been monitored as early as the 1950s. But in an interview with PTV’s Balitang Pambansa, PAGASA attributed the said successive typhoons due to climate change and the La Nina phenomenon
