Metro Manila, to experience scattered rains today

METRO MANILA, along with numerous provinces in Luzon, will continue to endure gloomy weather with scattered rainfall and isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday, brought on by the shearline. 

PAGASA, the state weather bureau, defines a shearline as a region where cold and warm air meet. This is what has caused the overcast weather and nearly a day’s worth of rainshowers this weekend.

“Lumalakas na ang epekto ng amihan sa bansa. Sa kasalukuyan, shearline sa southern Luzon nakakaapekto at itong amihan sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon,” PAGASA weather forecaster Veronica Torres reported.

The shearline may cause cloudy weather with scattered rainfall and isolated thunderstorms in areas such as the NCR, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, and Kalayaan Islands.

“Kapag nakatutok ang shear line sa isang particular na lugar lang at hindi umaangat or bumaba, nagko-cause talaga ‘yan ng mga tuloy-tuloy na pag-ulan,” Torres said in an interview with a media. 

The rest of the Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will likewise have cloudy skies with rains, while the Ilocos Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rainfall, both due to the Northeast Monsoon. 

Meanwhile, PAGASA added that the rest of the country may continue to enjoy partly overcast to cloudy weather with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

No typhoons this week

Following a significant sequence of typhoons last month, including multiple super typhoon levels, the country’s weather continues to improve this week, according to PAGASA on Monday. 

Kristine, Leon, Marce, Nika, Ofel, and Pepito were all typhoons that impacted the country within the past month. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Pepito was the last to do damage in the country. 

However, no tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this week, but weak and dissipating Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) may emerge, according to the weather bureau.

The LPAs may form along the intertropical conversion zone west of Palawan early this week and east of Mindanao late this week. 

Nonetheless, Metro Manila will continue with a gloomy weather with a possibility of isolated rainfall today, but will have a hot and dry day tomorrow (Wednesday) and through the weekend.
