Comelec: 41 new party-lists accredited

by Kiko Cueto

THE Commission on Elections announced that they had accredited new but fewer party-list groups for the 2025 elections when compared to 2022.

The announcement was made at the inspection of the data sites for the midterm elections in Makati.

“Hindi naman dahil gusto namin mag-reduce…subalit gusto natin ang party-lists ay nare-represent sa marginalized at underrepresented,” he said.

Garcia had said that some 164 new and existing party-list groups are looking to be accredited to run for the next year’s polls.

Presently, the Comelec is targeting to issue the final list of the accredited organizations before the end of the week.

At the same time, the poll body rejected the application of around 142 party lists as of September 23, 2024.

May mga ganun,” Garcia said.

“Akala makakaligtas doon sa aming matinding scrutiny ng bawat party-list,” he added.
