#BotoNgKabataan2025 Count Reaches Crucial 80% Threshold

FILIPINOS will soon know the full results of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), with the current partial and unofficial results reaching 80.55% as of 10:54 a.m. 

As the NLE draws to a close, the country finds itself at a watershed moment. As vote counts reach completion, Filipinos are getting a peek of the political environment that will determine their future. 

This midterm election, held yesterday, May 12, 2025, was more than simply a usual democratic exercise; it was a high-stakes fight that revealed the increasing political gaps and the urgent need to overcome them.

Leading Senators

According to data provided by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at 10:54 a.m., Bong Go continues to lead with 21,790,271 votes, followed by Bam Aquino with 16,823,771 votes and Bato Dela Rosa with 16,685,378. 

On the other side, here are the additional contenders who are unofficially part of the ‘Magic 12’:

A Huge Dip

Meanwhile, Comelec faced intense scrutiny early in the day, as netizens noticed a major decrease in the partial data released at 12:32 a.m., as well as the votes of the candidates that were updated three hours later. 

During 3:50 a.m. the Comelec data feed revealed a reduction in Go’s vote total from 26,430,315 to 21,699,929 votes after accumulating 80.16 percent of all election returns. 

He is not alone; Aquino had a significant reduction from 20,464,747 votes to 16,782,544, Dela Rosa had 20,257,568 votes that dropped to 16,614,841, and the rest of the contenders faced the same thing.

No Clear Explanation

Comelec Chairman George Garcia stated that election returns data from voting locations are “sent to all,” including the central server, media companies, poll watchdogs, and the majority and minority parties.

The commission provided no clear explanation for the precipitous dip. Garcia, on the other hand, told the public that the Comelec is committed to maintaining a transparent electoral process.

“In our transparency server, there are no totals. What we only see are the percentage of election returns received all over the country…” the Comelec chairman told the media during a brief interview. 

“Whoever is leading and their ranks, I would not know…As God as my witness, I do not know the rankings,” Garcie went on to assure.

Nonetheless, Comelec began the national canvassing of votes at 10:30 a.m. Filipinos will have to wait a few more hours, as the Comelec chairman has stated that he expects 100% of poll results to be available by the afternoon today.
