44k individuals affected by shearline

SOME 44,058 individuals were affected by the flooding brought about by the shear line, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Tuesday.

According to the report, this represents 13,067 families from 64 villages in Palawan and Oriental Mindoro.

There are still 8 flooded areas in Palawan.

A total of 8 areas in Palawan suspended classes and 6 included work suspension.

Some P193,998 in Palawan were given assistance

Meanwhile, the Civil Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan said that the massive flooding is due to the rains from the meeting of hot and cold air or shearline.

Data from the PAGASA Puerto Princesa City said that on February 10, 2025, they recorded 341.7mm of rain from February 9,  2025. 

This is the ‘heaviest’ rainfall in close to 50 years since the PAGASA station was built in the area in 1948.

The normal rainfall in Puerto Princesa City for February is 30.7mm. 

The highest extreme rainfall for February was at 140.8mm, tallied on February 16, 2012. 

The standing record of heavy rainfall prior to Monday was at 269.3mm on December 29, 1975.
