LIST: On-site class suspensions

ON-site or face-to-face classes in several areas in Metro Manila will be suspended on Wednesday, April 24, still due to the temperatures reaching the dangerous level.

The City of Manila said that the suspension covers all levels, both public and private.

The Manila City Public Information Office and Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan declared the suspension on their official social media pages.

They said that this is because of the forecast danger heat index of 43°C (degrees Celsius) on Wednesday.

“Schools are advised to shift to asynchronous classes,” the office said in an advisory.

The Local City Government of Pasay also made the same announcement.

The state weather bureau had said that the heat index is the “measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.”

A heat index ranging from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius is considered to be in the “danger category.”
