WHILE attempting to climb the Andas to get closer to the image of Jesus Nazareno, several devotees were given medical attention due to injury.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), three people were given medical attention after getting wounded during the procession of the 400-year-old image of Jesus Nazareno.
The first patient obtained a cut on his right foot along Katigbak Drive and had his wound stitched up at the station of the Department of Health (DOH) in Quirino Grandstand.
In the same location, another patient was also injured. He later went home after getting the wounds on his leg cleaned.
On the Finance Road, the right foot of the third patient was also cut. The patient was brought to the DOH tent located in Quirino Grandstand for medical attention.
MMDA said that its first aid station has attended about 120 individuals dating from January 7 to 9. Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross has helped a total of 111 patients in the early hours of Traslacion.
At 4:41 am, the Traslacion from Quirino Grandstand going to Quiapo Church started and according to the Manila Police District (MPD) due to devotees climbing up to the andas, it caused the slowing down of the traditional Traslacion.
