SOME 11 new cases of fireworks-related injuries on Saturday bringing the total to 107. Among them include a 72-year-old who was grazed by a kwitis.
The DOH said that of the 11 reported new cases, a total of six cases involved illegal fireworks.
The youngest of the victims is aged 6-years-old.
Likewise the report said that for the total cases, some 97% of the incidents happened at home or by the nearby streets to which 63.59% of the cases involved illegal firecrackers.
“Ang mga pinsalang nauugnay sa paputok ay nangyayari sa bahay o kalapit nito, kadalasang kinasasangkutan ng mga batang lalaki, ngunit nakakaapekto rin sa mga passive na nanonood lamang sa anumang edad o kasarian,” said the DOH report.
The 11 new cases involved a 19-year-old from the Cagayan whose case where they had to be amputated after using the illegal firecracker Pla-pla.
Meanwhile the 72-year-old from the National Capital Region (NCR) who got burned after being hit by a kwitis.
