Departing flights at NAIA delayed due to potential software problem

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that flights have been delayed in the Ninoy Aquino International Authority (NAIA) for some three to four hours due to an identified potential problem with the software of the Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC).

According to an advisory from CAAP, the potential problem was identified during their regular monitoring to which they were able to chose to implement longer separation of departing flights from Manila, but also impacting traffic coming into the area.

“To ensure the safety of the flying public, CAAP decided to be conservative and manage the operations by providing longer separation of departing flights,” the advisory read.

“To reiterate, communication and surveillance at the ATMC remain available and unaffected. Only departing flights are experiencing longer separation intervals,” it added.
