SEVERAL parts of the country were then hit by another storm, forcing suspension of classes and government operations on Monday, September 2, amid the raging tropical cyclone Enteng.
Enteng, which intensified into a tropical storm on Sunday evening, is currently dumping copious amounts of rain and strong winds over the Philippines’ National Capital Region (NCR).
Malacañang Palace has halted classes at all levels at public and private schools in the NCR, as announced by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin’s office.
“In view of the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm “Enteng,” classes in public and private schools at all levels within the National Capital Region on 02 September 2024 are hereby suspended,” said Bersamin.
As indicated in a separate post on the Presidential Communications Office’s (PCO) Facebook account, Malacañang also announced the suspension on government work, effective at 8:30 AM.
“In view of the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm “Enteng,” work in government offices in the National Capital Region is hereby suspended at 8:30 a.m. today, 02 September 2024.
“The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” the Office of the Executive Secretary went on to say.
According to the most recent PAGASA-DOST advisory as of 9:00 AM, Enteng is maintaining its strength while gradually moving northwest over the east of the Polillo islands.
Enteng is anticipated to remain a tropical storm until Tuesday before intensifying into a severe tropical storm on Wednesday.
The tropical storm is also expected to reach typhoon status by Thursday or Friday as a result of potential intensification over the Philippine Sea.
