Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo convicted in serious illegal detention

A Taguig local court sentenced businessman Cedric Lee, model Deniece Cornejo, and others as guilty in a serious illegal detention case that was filed by actor-host Vhong Navarro.

According to Navarro’s lawyer, the Taguig Regional Trial Court said Lee, Cornejo and 2 other respondents were found guilty in the serious illegal detention case.

Atty. Alma Mallonga said that the court also tasked Cornejo to be immediately committed.

Meanwhile, Lee was not present during the hearing, thus the court ordered his immediate arrest.

Court records showed that Navarro had accused Lee with regards to him having  been detained on January 22, 2014 inside a condominium unit in Taguig City.

It said that it is where Lee and his companions allegedly mauled him and allegedly threatened to kill him.

Records also said that Lee demanded some P2 million for the release of Navarro, who in turn agreed to shell out P1 million.

Cornejo had earlier claimed that Navarro attempted to rape her that night.

The said argument was used used by Lee as a justification to maul Navarro, as well as force him to allegedly rape Cornejo at a police station that same night.

However, CCTV footage had proven that Cornejo was stepping onto the elevator from her condo unit a minute after Navarro stepped out of the elevator to go to her unit.

According to the camp of Navarro, it was physically impossible for Navarro to have raped or tried to rape Cornejo during a short span of time.

The camp of Lee tried to dismiss the case twice.
