THE municipality of Cainta in the Province of Rizal had declared a State of Calamity due to the effects of floods brought about by Super Typhoon Carina.
“The southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina’s continuous onslaught of rain since yesterday has brought severe flooding, causing huge damage to property and disruption of livelihood of our residents in all seven barangays,” Cainta Mayor Elenita Nieto said.
“We will continue to provide relief and to conduct rescue operations, with the goal of restoring our town,” she added.
Metro Manila has been placed under a state of calamity following the effects of the Super Typhoon which flooded many streets in the country’s capital.

Meanwhile, the waters at the Marikina River continued to go down with the rains ceasing.
As of 9 a.m., the waters is recorded at 15 meters or is under the first alarm.
It is expected to go down further.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office announced at 5:45 a.m., that the alarm was now just at first with the water level at 15.6 meters.
