STATE seismologists have already recorded 113 aftershocks as a result of the Magnitude 6.8 earthquake that jolted Davao Occidental last Friday.
Appearing on PTV program ”Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon” on Tuesday, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) Director Teresito Bacolcol said six of the 113 aftershocks were felt, with magnitudes ranging from 1.4 to 4.9.
“Aftershocks will last for several days to several weeks pero habang tumatagal naman, humihina ang mga ito at lumiliit iyong bilang,” Bacolcol said.
The death toll remained at 9, and 16 people were injured from the earthquake, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The town of Glan in Sarangani province has also been placed under a state of calamity due to the effects of the earthquake.
The declaration will allow the local government unit to release funds for disaster response.
