Horror flick “Deleter” swept big wins at the recently concluded Gabi ng Parangal for Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 including the coveted Best Picture, Best Actress for lead star Nadine Lustre and Best Director for Mikhail Red.
Apart from the major awards, “Deleter” also bagged four more technical awards including Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing by Nikolas Red and Best Cinematography.
Lustre too reigned supreme as the festival’s Star of the Night. Her big comeback beat other actresses who vied for the category including Heaven Peralejo for “Nananahimik Ang Gabi,” Ivana Alawi for “Partners in Crime” and Toni Gonzaga for “My Teacher.”
“Masaya kaming lahat na bumabalik ang pelikulang Pilipino,” she said in her speech.
In interviews after the announcement, Lustre is still in disbelief about her movie’s big win as they never expected that the movie would make it to the magic eight.
“Para sa amin, para sa team Deleter, enough reward na yung gustuhin siya ng mga Pilipino at gustuhin siyang panoorin,” she said.
As to the question if people can expect more movies from her now especially after the success of her film, she said, “definitely.”
“I don’t think I’m ever gonna stop, she added.
“It kind of, I don’t know how to explain it properly, but I guess it kind of lit a fire up my a**, it’s a huge inspiration for me, she said.
“It’s not just about winning, it’s more of I guess inspiring other people and medyo nakaka motivate rin kasi to see the result of what you’re doing. Hindi ba parang ang sarap sa pakiramdam na alam mo sarili mo na you gave your all and you did well, ang sarap niya sa feeling,” she ended.
Meanwhile, “Mamasapano: Now it can be told” and “Nananahimik Ang Gabi” are second and third Best Picture respectively.
“Deleter” revolves around the story of Lyra (Lustre) a content moderator who seemed to have been immune to the horrors that she sees in her job which is filtering videos online. Things turn however when she gets involved with the investigation of the death of one of her colleagues that would eventually haunt her.
Apart from Lustre, “Deleter” cast also includes Louise delos Reyes, Jeffrey Hidalgo and McCoy de Leon.
