Menstrual leave bill filed in House of Representatives

Female employees will get up to two days of paid menstrual leave once the bill filed by Gabriela party-list Representative Arlene Brosas becomes law.

House Bill 7758 covers female workers, except pregnant and menopausal women, in the government and private sectors.

The bill states that the menstrual leave will be non-cumulative and strictly non-convertible to cash.

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on Maundy Thursday encouraged Filipinos.

The proposed measure provides for non-diminution of maternity benefits, and it should not be used as a basis for demotion or termination.

“In sum, there is a need to provide women with the flexibility and support they need to manage their reproductive health without fear of negative consequences such as losing pay, falling behind in work, or facing disciplinary action. Thus, the immediate passage of this bill is earnestly sought,” it said.
