LOOK: Vhong Navarro reunites with Streetboys

by Izel Abanilla

Aside from bonding with his family, actor-dancer Vhong Navarro also reunited with his group Streetboys shortly after his temporary liberty.

On the Facebook page of the ‘90s dance group, the boys are visibly happy to be with each other once again, especially with Navarro who had just been released from jail after posting P1 million bail.

The actor was charged with rape and acts of lasciviousness by model Deniece Cornejo.

Apart from Navarro, ‘90s heartthrob Spencer Reyes also flew in from Scotland to spend the holidays in the country.

In fact, since their reunion, the boys have been serving their swag in their respective TikTok accounts that got their fans requesting for more.

Taking from their posts, the boys are deeply thankful that their comrade had been finally released from detention.

“A very merry Christmas to all of you! Brothers for life!” the group said.

“From the bottom of our hearts, a huge thank you for the prayers and undying support!” they said.

Last December 6, the “It’s Showtime” host and Streetboys original member was granted bail following the prosecution’s failure to establish strong evidence of guilt on the part of Navarro due to supposed inconsistencies in Cornejo’s statements.

Immediately after, the boys expressed their gratitude to those who supported and prayed for their brother.

“Napakasarap sa puso ang iyong pag ngiti brother, napakasaya ng karamihan. Namiss namin ang iyong pag ngiti. Alam naman natin na ang mission mo ngayon at makapagbigay ng kasayahan sa lahat,” they said.

It can be remembered that in September, when Navarro surrendered himself to the National Bureau of Investigation, the group started the #WeBelieveVhong and #JusticeForVhong online campaign.

“Let’s all share this thread to show our support to brother Vhong Navarro,” they said.

“We need your help na mabigyan sya ng hustisya. Matagal namin kakilala si Vhong at naniniwala kaming buong grupo na sya ay inosente,” they said.

It was 1993 when a group of then hopeful youngsters dreamed of making it big in the industry through dancing.

The Streetboys are known for their electrifying moves mixed with death-defying exhibitions. It became their edge against other dance groups at that time.

Originally, the group had nine members but through the years, some would leave and new ones would come in.

Among their dance hits were “Lick it,” “Friends,” “The Sign,” “MMMbop,” “Arikingking king,” “Macarena,” “Ragamuffin girl,” “Feel Like Dance,” “Beautiful Life,” “Ecstacy Extano,” “On Ne S’Aimera Plus Jamais,” and many others.

Eventually, other members crossed over from dancing to acting.

The first one to try showbiz was Reyes whose prowess was recognized by acting awards during his prime. He also is known as the ex-love team partner of former child star Aiza Seguerra (now Ice Seguerra).

Navarro came in next and through the years has made himself one of the country’s most bankable comedians.

Jhong Hilario, meanwhile, had established himself as one of this generation’s premier character actors.

Apart from Reyes, Navarro and Hilario, other original members include Maynard Marcellano, Chris Cruz, Nicko Manalo, Joey Andres, Joseph de Leon and Michael Sesmundo.
