CELESTE Cortesi’s stint at the 71st Miss Universe pageant had ended short after she failed to land a spot early on in the Top 16 last January 15 (Philippine time). It also denied her to chance to flaunt the much-awaited final gown for the global glory.
But designer Michael Leyva made sure his masterpiece would not go unnoticed.
On Instagram, Leyva posted a video of Costesi’s look on her sparkly blue mermaid-designed gown with a sexy plunging neckline with cape.
“You’re still our Miss Universe. Thank you for making us all proud 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 @celeste_cortesi in #michaelleyva fully beaded Swarovski gown with cape,” he said.
The photos and videos that circulated online were taken from the final dress rehearsal where candidates were asked to wear the gowns they would use for the evening gown segment.

The look raked massive positive reactions from the netizens mostly saying the Cortesi in her dress was perfection personified.
During the preliminaries, the 25-year-old stunner donned a sky blue gown by Los Angeles-based Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino.
Moreover, her gown actually referenced her name as Celeste meant “heavenly” and “sky blue” in the Italian language.
USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel was crowned this year’s Miss Universe, Venezuela’s Amanda Dudamel comes in as the First runner-up while Dominican Republic’s Andreína Martínez is the second runner-up.
Taking from social media virals, Filipinos still however are proud of Cortesi’s overall performance despite her not making it to the cut.
