by Jericho Zafra

BOTH Google Play and App Store have a variety of mobile games that entertain kids and even kids at heart. However, only a few of these games truly tempt mobile gamers to spend half of their day playing.

Here are the most popular games on Google Play and the App Store, according to their Wednesday charts:

  1. Mobile Legends

Mobile Legends is an iOS and Android multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that was developed and launched by Shanghai Moonton Technology, a Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based game production studio in 2016. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang had more than 4.7 million combined downloads across Google Play and the Apple App Store in July 2022, according to German market and consumer data company Statista, making it the most downloaded free MOBA game globally.

  1. Tap Away 3D

Eager to train your mind while getting entertained in one sitting? Maybe Tap Away 3D is the right game for you. To make the blocks fly off the screen and clear them, tap on them. However, the blocks will only fly in one direction, so you must approach this puzzle with caution. Popcore is the creator of Tap Away 3D and is the home of popular puzzle games with over 250 million cumulative downloads.

  1. Save the Dog

The internet went wild when this game was advertised on social media. Many were hooked by how it was strategically publicized by drawing walls to save the dog.

How is it played? With your fingers, you design walls that shield the dog from bee attacks inside the hive. In order to win the game, you must hold your wall for 10 seconds while the bees attack the dog.

  1. Makeover Studio

Are you missing your Y8 days where you can play dress up and make pretty dolls? Well, the new era is here. Makeover Studio is a newly-launched game where you can play and practice doing makeovers.

  1. Call of Duty

On October 1, 2019, the free-to-play first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Mobile was launched for Android and iOS. It acquired over 100 million downloads worldwide in the first two months. Some 3.72 million people downloaded the game in July 2022, according to Statista.

Was your game not included? Don’t worry, App Store and Google Play still recognize the OG (original) favorites online.

In April, Yugatech reported that Jetpack Joyride, a decade-long mobile game that ran through the childhood to adulthood of some Gen Zs, was the most downloaded game with 100 million recorded in all.

In this action-packed game, you control a jetpack propelled by stolen bullets as you navigate a laboratory. Your goal is to move as far into the lab as you can while collecting cash, avoiding traps and dangers, and completing game objectives.

Gone are the days when hit games Temple Run, Candy Crush, and Fruit Ninja were the craze for people of all ages.

Nostalgic right?
