UP and coming OPM singer-songwriter Kobe Silvestre is ready to take his music to new heights with the release of his first track Musika ng Buhay Ko

Silvestre is debuting in the OPM scene after sharing his music on the streets as a busker.

His first single talks about his struggles and experiences.

For him, making a song inspired by his aspirations in life is a dream come true.

“This song is about my personal experience and the struggles I went through and [which I’m] still going through everyday, but I know all my hardships will one day be rewarded,” he told republicasia.

At only 20 years old, he feels ready to embark on a professional music career. He is currently a contract artist of O/C Records, and is among the youngest performers being groomed to be the next big thing.

Busking

Just like a few who went before him, Silvestre started performing by taking his music to the streets.

He busked along Philcoa in Quezon City and wowed bystanders and passersby who saw him perform.

“Before O/C [Records] nag bu-busking ako, open gigs. Literal na tatayo lang po ako sa isang lugar then I would busk. Lalatag ko lang yung guitar bar and I would play,” he said.

He got his inspiration from Martin Riggs, a fellow singer-songwriter and a co-talent in O/C Records. who founded the group called The Busking Community. Riggs, along with the artists who volunteered to join his advocacy, has been regularly performing on the streets for the love of music.

He decided to try out busking while walking to a gig. He was early for the event, so he decided to stop and play his music while walking along Philcoa.

He really enjoyed the experience.

“Sinubukan ko siya, nilatag ko yung bag ko, tumugtog ako for like 15 minutes lang, trial lang,  and it felt good and inulit ulit ko siya,” he said.

Little did Silvestre know that his street gigs would land him a recording contract with Kean Cipriano’s label.

In 2018, he got to perform in an open-mic night and it was where OPM icon Kean Cipriano spotted him and took him under his wing.

The Gen Z songwriter expressed excitement over the idea of his career going to the next level with his entry into the music industry.

He is focused on promoting his single that is now on all digital streaming platforms.

The music video for “Musika ng Buhay Ko” has also already been released on O/C Records’ YouTube page.
