Junior high school students invited to join National Museum’s ‘Lakbay Sining’

by Joanna Deala

The National Museum of the Philippines is encouraging junior high school students to unleash their creativity by taking part in Lakbay Sining: An Art Appreciation Tour of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

This is the final installation of the NMP’s Lakbay Museo Series 2023, as part of the celebration of the National Heritage Month.

Lakbay Sining: An Art Appreciation Tour of the National Museum of Fine Arts will bring these young art enthusiasts from grades 7 to 10 deeper into the Philippine arts through a special museum tour for free.

The NMP said that the activity hopes to “raise awareness of the artworks that are part of the National Fine Arts Collection” to the youth and strengthen their “sense of Filipino pride through the appreciation of Philippine arts and its contribution to society.”

The students will also have the opportunity to showcase their painting skills with their newfound knowledge in an oil pastel workshop after the tour. No need to worry about the art materials because the NMP will provide them.

The educational program will be held on June 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Osmeña Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

While this is free of charge, the NMP said that the activity will have limited slots. Interested students can register through this link.
