HORI7ON clinches ‘Rising Star’ honor at 11th Korean Wave Awards

by Joanna Deala

IT has only been a week since all-Filipino boy group HORI7ON was recognized by a South Korean award-giving body but the septet is already adding a new feather to their cap.

The global pop group shared on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday that they bagged the Rising Star Award at the 11th Korean Wave Awards 2023.

Vinci, Jeromy, Marcus, Kyler, Reyster, Winston, and Kim posted a photo of their group receiving a certificate, trophy, and bouquet.

Marcus and Kim took to the HORI7ON X account to thank their fans known as ANCHOR.

“I’m so happy to receive another award and I hope that it will continue and we will achieve better and greater things in the future. Congratulations HORI7ON!” posted Marcus, along with a couple of selfies.

Kim, on the other hand, expressed gratitude for winning another award.

“We promise that we will keep improving and raising the bar for our performances. Thank you Korean Wave Awards,” he said.

The Rising Star Award is the group’s latest recognition from a South Korean award-giving body this year.

On December 14, HORI7ON attended the prestigious Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, where they received the AAA Focus Award.

The recognition was also given to South Korean boy band Lun8, Younghoon of K-pop group The Boyz, and actor Ahn Dong-gu.

In the Philippines, HORI7ON was among the recipients of the Top Global Artist of the Year at the PPOP Awards 2023, alongside Filipino acts SB19 and 4th Impact.

Appearances, projects

Formed by South Korean entertainment agency MLD Entertainment and ABS-CBN through the survival reality show “Dream Maker,” HORI7ON officially debuted in South Korea on July 24 as they released their first album “Friend-SHIP.”

This kicked off the group’s promotions in South Korean shows including Mnet’s “M Countdown,” MBC’s “Show! Music Core,” and SBS’ “Inkigayo,” among others.

They also appeared in local television shows like “It’s Showtime,” “ASAP Natin To” and “I Can See Your Voice.”

The septet also starred in their own reality show “100 Days Miracle,” which features their journey to dominate the global music scene.

In September, the members held their first-ever concert “Friend-SHIP: Voyage to Manila” at the Araneta Coliseum.

They are reportedly making a comeback in January 2024.
